How to shampoo and condition your hair properly

Scientists have worked out exactly how you should wash your hair. They came up with a set of instructions to follow.

. Dampen your hair with running water warmed to a temperature of precisely 36.7 degrees celsius.
. Use exactly the right amount of shampoo - 6 ml for short hair, 8 ml for medium length hair and 10 ml for long hair.
. Lather hair for 28 seconds, rubbing it 20 times with your fingertips
. Rinse your hair for 22 seconds in the water (at the same temperature)
. Repeat the whole process

. Use 2 ml conditioner for short hair, 4 ml for medium length hair and 6 ml for long hair.
. Apply conditioner with a wide-toothed comb
. Leave conditioner to sink in for 57 seconds before rinsing in the same temperature water as previously stated.
. Pat your hair dry with a towel to absorb excess water before leaving it to dry naturally.

How to seem confident when you're not

Try these DOs and DON'Ts to make others think you're feeling completely confident!
DON'T wear dull colours. Why not try wearing oranges, reds or yellows?
DO get your body language right. Hold your head high, stand with your arms relaxed beside you or sit with your hands loosely on your lap.
DON'T hide behind your hair. Sweep your hair back into a cute ponytail.
DO smile.
DON'T talk too quickly. Relax and take deep breaths.
DO look people in the eyes.
DON'T bite your nails.
DO lift your spirits with scents. Apply a dot of grapefruit essential oil on your wrists before you leave in the morning. Take a quick sniff when you need a boost.

See by Chloe

See by Chloe is my favorite fragrance at the moment. It has a beautiful fresh, sweet, energetic floral scent that I love. The packaging is cute and bright. It has been said that it has an aroma of spring and summer.

How do you wear perfume properly?
The best place to wear a perfume is on one of your pulse points. These include your temples, the side of your neck, in the crook of your elbow, your inner wrists and in front of your ankles. Some perfumers recommend spritzing freshly washed hair so that you waft a delicious scent around you as you move your head.

Benefit Makeup Tutorial

Yesterday I was lucky enough to be booked in to a makeup lesson with Benefit Cosmetics. I decided to take my lesson in the Benefit store in Canaby Street, London. It was an amazing experience. I told the artist what my skincare routine was like, the products I use at home and the looks I usually go for. The girl who created my look was ever so friendly and she knew exactly what I was looking for. She talked me through my makeover from preparation through to application. I asked for a natural look and I was very happy with the outcome. Below is a complete list of the products she used upon my face.

Last weekend I went to the coastal town of Margate. There are two sides of Margate. There is a side that contains typical high street shops such as New Look, Primark, Greggs, Superdrug etc. (this side isn't the best) and then there is the cute, vintage backstreets of Margate. Down these backstreets there are lot's of vintage, retro and all round cute shops. Along with these charming little shops there are also petite galleries and also a rather great gallery called the Tate Modern.
Something to look forward to is also the reopening of Margate's Dreamland. The famous seaside attraction park is the vision and it is said to become a place with guaranteed great fun!
Ensure to visit this lovely Kent coastal town with great vintage shopping, dainty cafes and a long sandy stretch. Why not take a trip this weekend? This weekend Margate is putting on a 'What a Vinatge Carry On' event (16th & 17th August 2014). There is said to be markets, music and nostalgic goings on!

Whitstable Oyster Festival 2014

Every year the cute coastal town of Whitstable, southeast coast of England, holds a festival celebrating their great produce of Oysters. The celebration includes lots of different activities, competitions, live music, markets and lots of fun. My family have a small family caravan nearby so every year we have attended the festivities, this year's event was amazing!

The festival started well with a parade down the street, a buzzing food market selling lots of great quality local produce, a stage full of live music from acts such as The Cuban Brothers, and craft activities for children. The theme for the festival this year was a Venetian masked ball so workshops were put on for children to create their very own decorated mask. The festival continued across the week. Other events included a charity dog show, vintage markets, a outdoor cinema screening of films including West Side Story and Finding Nemo, Sean Lock made an appearance at a local venue to present the audience with a comedy show, a crabbing competition for the kids, an oyster eating competition, the making of grotters (small dome-shaped structures made from oyster shells and lit inside with a tea light), muddy tug of war, and a Venetian themed finale with fireworks. Overall it was a jam-packed, fun week with people smiling everywhere. I would definitely recommend this celebration to people of all ages and you are guaranteed to smile and have fun! If you are not able to attend the Oyster festival next year, ensure you make a small trip to Whitstable and any time of the year. The small town on the beach is a lovely place to visit due to the streets of shops, lovely beach, local pubs and restaurants, and friendly people.

Brighten your eyes

Your eyes may become red due to staring at a computer screen for a long period of time, fighting a cold or lack of sleep. If you think it is due to lack of sleep why not read my post on beating sleepless nights? But for those of you who want to know how to brighten the appearance of your eyes, here are a few easy tips...

Lack of water can make your eyes seem tired. So try to drink lots of water to banish the redness.

Soaked flannel
Soak a flannel in iced water and wring it out. Then lie down and place the flannel over your eyes. When the flannel starts to warm up, soak it in the ice cold water again and repeat.

Fast Fix
Apply a small dot of pearly eyeshadow on the skin at the inner corner of your eye and directly above your pupil. This gives the illusion of wider, brighter eyes.

Review: Max Factor Whipped Creme Foundation

I recently bought this foundation to try it out. One of my friends told me she uses the max factor whipped creme foundation so I thought I'd give it ago. I bought the shade 50 - Natural as my face has become more tanned due to the luscious summer rays. To begin with, the small pot was a great idea as it is great to carry around with you. The feel on your fingers is like mousse. I don't usually use mousse-like foundations as I feel they are cakey, but this foundation is near the opposite. The foundation is surprisingly light on your skin and hydrating. I feel it would be great on all skin types, but in particular dry skin due to the hydrating element. The product leaves a great coverage, matte but still with a healthy glow. It is being sold in boots for £9.99 at the moment which I think is great value for money.

No more sleepless nights

We all need our beauty sleep to feel and look gorgeous. Here is an easy bedtime routine to ensure you sleep well and have sweet dreams.

Have a healthy snack
Try having some warm milk, a banana or a slice of wholemeal toast an hour before bed. Or try chamomile tea or even peppermint tea to help you to become calm and relaxed.
Wind down
Relax by reading or listening to calm music. A study by the University of  Hertfordshire suggests that playing mood music at night could give you happier, sweeter dreams. Why not try listening to dolphins or wave sounds before bed?
Dark and silent
Get rid of any ticking or annoying clocks, and make sure your curtains are pulled tight. Why not purchase some blackout blinds?
Prepare for bed
Take a glass of water upstairs with you and keep it by your bed in case you get thirsty in the night. Ensure your PJ's are comfy, do your nighttime beauty regime and get into bed.
Find a comfortable position
Make sure your neck is well-supported upon one or two comfy pillows.
Clear your mind
Don't let worrying keep you awake. If you're anxious about something, then imagine your putting that problem in a box and locking it.
Goodnight and sweet dreams...
