Greece | Olympia

Χαίρετε!

Welcome to my Greek Diaries! I spent an amazing week in beautiful Greece with my friends. Greece is such a gorgeous country, and by taking a little road trip to lots of different locations I felt I experienced lots of different aspects of their culture and country. So over the next week and a half I will document each little day spent in Greece through a post which will go live at 7pm each evening!

Day Six

We soon arrived at our third hotel, Hotel Europa, in Olympia. We were escorted to our designated rooms. It was a lovely little room with plenty of space, and the bathroom was huge! Once we had got ready and sorted out our things in our room, we headed up to the restaurant for dinner. Our evening meal was a gorgeous Greek buffet serving a range of different dishes which were delicious. In my opinion, the Hotel Europa served the best food from my whole time in Greece! After dinner we decided to head out to the town - one small problem was that there was a VERY steep heel that we had to walk down...and then up!

We made it to the town and we found a little bar where we ordered a few cheeky cocktails! The evening was lovely but it wasn't long until we had to make our ascent up to our hotel. We finally made it to the top and went to bed ready for our next day!

The next morning we woke up early ready for breakfast, and for the day ahead. We left the hotel, piled on the coach, and headed to the ancient site of Olympia. Ancient Olympia was filled with statues, pillars and other ancient ruins, but the most impressive area was the original, very first Olympic Games arena - let's just say it is very different to the London Queen Elizabeth Park stadium! We got a chance to race on the track, and we took lots of pictures.

We continued on to the museum where we had the chance to look around at more statues and ancient artefacts! It was lunchtime, and we had our little picnic in the sun before heading back on to the coach for the journey to our final hotel...
